Regardless of your candidate VOTE! If you don't vote, you have no voice

Time is running out to make history. Absentee ballots must be received by 8:00 p.m. on Election Day. So if you are eligible to vote absentee, it is very important to vote absentee in person Friday, Saturday, or Monday.

If you are over 60, disabled, or expect to be away from your community during regular voting hours on Election Day, you can vote absentee
.

Contact your local city or township clerk now for the hours they're open for absentee voting on Friday, Saturday, or Monday.

If you are eligible to vote absentee, it's a great way to make sure you are free on November 4th to volunteer in  crucial get out the vote efforts.

Yesterday my wife, Tracy, and I had the most empowering experience of voting
early for the November 4 election in Fort Wayne, IndianaAnticipating, and
then seeing "Barack Obama -- Democratic Candidate for
    President of the United
    States of America
" on the ballot was awesome.

At first I wanted to just stand there and look at it.  Half in disbelief,
half just to soak it in.  And then I opted not to push the straight party
ticket because I wanted to mark my 'X' next to the name of the first African
    American president

THERE ARE MANY GRASSROOT EFFORTS THAT ARE IN THE COMMUNITY TO INFORM COMMUNITY RESIDENTS ABOUT VOTING AND EXERCISING THERE RIGHT AND OBLIGATION TO VOTE.  LISTED BELOW ARE SOME IMPORTANT UPDATES AND MESSAGES..........

FROM THE NAACP and the VOTER COALITION

    Dear Friend,

Election Day is only 5 days awayBattle Creek NAACP and the rest of the Voter Coalition has been working very hard this year to make sure that people are registered to vote for this very crucial election.  However, the work is not done yet.  With your help, we can make sure that this election runs smoothly and as many people as possible get out to vote.

    Get Out the Vote

We will have a huge impact on the election, but only if we vote. We will be doing a door to door Get Out the Vote canvas on Saturday, Nov. 1 from 12pm-3pm. This will be a city wide canvas that will get important information to voters who live in predominatley low voter turnout areas. If every NAACP member sends 5 people we can make a huge impact on getting everyone to the polls this election year. It is important that we get our community engaged in the political process and take a stand on policies that effect our lives. We will be meeting at 12pm on this Saturday at First United Methodist Church parking lot. I can't wait to see you there!

Many of the people that we are targeting for Get OUT the Vote (GOTV) will be unable to get to the polls on Election Day because of a lack of transportation.  You can have a huge impact on this by donating your time and car to give rides to those who need it.  This means that you will have a direct impact on the election by getting more people out to vote who normally would not.

Giving rides doesn't suit you? How about making crucial phone calls reminding people to get out to vote.  It may sound crazy, but people may forget to vote on Election Day so you will be playing a huge role. Our phone bank which opens today Oct 29th and runs through Election Day needs volunteers to make the important phone calls to ensure that voter questions are addressed and that they have a ride to the polls lined up.
