Throughout U.S. history, women of every race and class have made contributions that have helped to shape and strengthen the country. In 1987, Congress declared the month of March Women’s History Month to recognize these contributions and to promote the teaching of women's history.

We salute all the women in our past, present, and future. We salute our mothers, grandmothers, sisters, and daughters. We salute voices for women's rights and those who stood during the  women's suffrage movement. We salute all the women in the military, government and serving in political offices. We salute women teachers, educators and those in scholarship.  We salute all women in business, and those who status has  pinnacled to CEO's and presidents of corporations in this world. We salute women in engineering and technology. We salute women in medicine and psychology.  We salute women in the arts, entertainment, music and the dance. We salute women authors, writers and poets.  We salute all women ministers, pastors and spiritual advisors. We salute women coaches and athletes. We salute all women in traditional and non-traditional fields. We salute all women single, married, or divorced.  We salute all women shapes, sizes and figures.  We salute all women rich or poor. We salute all women educated or non-educated.  We salute women of all colors, shades, creeds and cultures. We salute all women who sacrificed their lives in their own way, whether working gainfully or staying at home, to birth and raise little boys and little girls in this world so that one day, they can salute and give homage to the women of this world. Salute to Women 2008.

WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH - LOCAL NEWS

 

 The American Association of University Women's will host its annual Explorathon event Saturday March 8th, at Kellogg Community College. This workshop program for 4th and 5th grade girls featurers "non-traditional" careers for  women with a focus on science, technology and math occupations.  The American Association of University Women's mission, which is to advances equity for all women and girls.  for press release click here
